below: “mamming” the dragon kimchu flower horn

alas! i’m able to post these pictures. tine and i got them from my officemate and friend who recently opened a backyard pet shop together with his wife and his younger brother. he’s into flower horns but he’s got different species as well– tetras, mollies, parrot fish, gold fishes, koi, and so on. so i chose papping, a blue dragon phoenix breed and tine chose the dragon kimchu breed and she named it “mamming” (sounds more feminine but it’s actually a male fish). both of them are six-months old but the latter is smaller in size and has not developed that red color yet. his pearls, however, are visible and very noticeable. papping, on the other hand, is a playful fish. he moves a lot and loves rearranging the corals to his own design. he’s bigger because he eats a lot and amazingly show signs of not getting “full”. he always begs for another drop. but then i limit him so as not to get overfed.

im sad kasi bloated yung flowerhorn ko na isa, he cant even swim pataas.. ang laki laki ng tummy parang butete. :(

hi equilibrium! well, you can try to lessen its food intake. two options: (1) un-feed it for a day or 2 then start feeding it in smaller amounts (2) just reduce its food intake and let it beg you. that way it can swim up to ask for food ;-)

hi every one, ask ko lang, wat is the best food para madaling lumaki ung FH? my FH is about 3″ including the tail.

  5. fransyce says:

pahabol… everytime na lalapit ako sa fish ko bakit my lumalabas na parang stripe2 sa color nya? FH
    ko red phoenix.

  6. dang3rz0n3 says:

hello fransyce…thanks for visiting my page. hmm…best food, i’ve been using XO brand for both “ever red” and “humpy head” FH food. kung nasa 3″ ang FH mo probably that’s between 3-4 months old. you must feed it twice a day, that’s in the morning and in the evening. ang ginagawa ko, i give at least 3-4 pcs per meal. pls don’t feed too much “ever red” baka masunog sya. kung “humpy” nman. you have to balance its diet. if you find na mejo lumulobo na ang ulo nya and there are indications of some “water” inside its head, damihan mo ang pagpapakain ng “humpy” para mas lalong lumobo yung ulo. stripes in its body means your FH is experiencing some “stress”. that’s normal. but please avoid tapping the fish tank or exposing your FH to some flashlight or something.

ahm..normally female fh don’t grow humps on their heads. they usually have shorter fins and are less brighter (in terms of colors) than male

Damn i got one Blue dragon flowerhorn about 3″ but i dont see the HUMPY HEAD yet i just wonder why?

    • dang3rz0n3 says:

hi tong. there are certain species that doesn’t grow a hump on its forehead. you say your FH is 3″, that’s pretty small yet. wait. :) continue feeding it with food rich in protein. perhaps you might want to consider feeding it with cultured worms. 1 per day. it will help.
